Who Can Stay at the Tikva House?

Families with a loved one being treated at the Johns Hopkins Hospital or Kennedy Krieger Institute can stay at the Tikva House.

How Do I Make a Reservation?

The first step is to contact a social worker at the hospital. If you have not already been in touch with one, contact the doctor’s office; the people there will help to assign a social worker. The social worker will ask you some basic questions about yourself (name, address, phone number, date of birth, diagnosis, length of stay, etc.). He or she will then relay that information to the Jewish Caring Network.

Each family is placed on a “room request” list for the day of their arrival. The family then must call the Tikva House manager at 410-534-1033 between 10 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. the day before the intended date of arrival. At that time, we will confirm that a room is available for you.

Do You Provide Meals?

There is a communal kitchen on the first floor of the Tikva House. Meals, upon request, will be placed in the communal kitchen refrigerator. Your meal will have your room number marked on the outer wrapping of the tray.

Our smallest rooms can accommodate two people, our largest up to four, though neither are guaranteed to be available. Siblings, grandparents and other relatives of the patient are allowed to stay in the room too, but we cannot give more than one room to each family.
